When enabled, your shop automatically shows inventory status messages on product pages when items run low. These messages create a sense of urgency that can motivate shoppers to complete their purchase sooner rather than later.

Availability

Limited inventory messaging is available to all sellers on paid plans (Platinum and Diamond) with enabled inventory management. To access this feature:

  1. Upgrade to a paid plan if you haven't already.

  2. Enable inventory management in your shop settings.

  3. Set inventory quantities for your products.

How Messages Are Displayed

  • Messages automatically appear when inventory reaches your set thresholds

  • For products with variants:

    • The low inventory message shows if any variant is running low.

    • Messages update when shoppers select specific variants.

    • Each variant's inventory level determines which message appears.

Customizing Your Messages

While the default messages work well, you can customize them for your brand voice. Here are some examples:

Low Inventory message ideas:

  • "Popular item - limited stock available"

  • "Selling fast - grab yours while you can."

  • "Limited quantities remaining"

Almost Sold Out message ideas:

  • "Last chance - almost gone!"

  • "Final pieces available"

  • "Hurry - nearly sold out!"

Best Practices

  1. Be honest: Always ensure your inventory numbers are accurate.

  2. Keep it simple: Use clear, concise messages that create urgency without pressure.

  3. Test different thresholds:

    • Start with the default 10-item threshold and adjust based on the following:

    • Your typical order volume

    • How quickly you can restock

    • Update inventory counts promptly

    • Review your messages periodically

Troubleshooting

If messages aren't appearing:

  • Confirm you're on a paid plan.

  • Verify inventory management is enabled.

  • Check that products have inventory quantities set.

  • Ensure the feature is turned on in your settings.

For products with variants:

  • Verify inventory is set for each variant.

  • Check that the total inventory across variants isn't above your threshold.

How to add Limited Inventory Messaging

The feature is automatically enabled for paid plan sellers with inventory management turned on. Here's how to customize it:

  1. Head to the Account page in your admin.

  2. Click Go to Shop designer > Settings > Template Settings.

  3. Find the Limited Inventory Messaging settings and from there, you can customize four key aspects:

    • Enable/Disable: Turn the feature on or off

    • Inventory Threshold: Set when the "low inventory" message appears (1-100 items, default is 10)

    • Low Inventory Message: Customize the message shown when inventory is below your threshold (default: "Limited quantities available")

    • Almost Sold Out Message: Customize the message shown when inventory is at half your threshold (default: "Only a few left!")
