PayPal

Add PayPal, Venmo (for U.S. domestic orders only), and PayPal Credit to your Big Cartel shop with PayPal Checkout as a payment method. This feature offers the convenience and security of PayPal, can be set up in minutes, and helps convert more shoppers into buyers.

If you’re solely using PayPal in your Big Cartel store as a checkout option and you’re approved for PayPal's Advanced Credit and Debit Card Payments feature, customers can complete checkout with a credit or debit card directly in your storefront without being redirected to PayPal's site. This provides a seamless checkout experience for customers.

If you are not approved for PayPal's Advanced Credit and Debit Card Payments feature, customers without a PayPal account may also have the option to pay with a credit or debit card via guest checkout.

Note: PayPal does have limitations and restrictions with guest checkout and sadly we have no control over these. To ensure all customers have the option to pay with a major credit/debit card, we recommend connecting Stripe to your store as a checkout option if you want to accept card payments in your shop. Your customers can also buy now and pay later with PayPal Credit, an option lots of customers love.

Setup

1. Head to the Account area of your Big Cartel admin.

2. Click Edit your payment options, and click Connect next to PayPal.

3. Follow the steps on screen to log in and authorize your PayPal account to be used with Big Cartel to accept payments. That's it!

4. Customers in your shop will see an option to pay with PayPal, Venmo (for U.S. domestic orders) or PayPal Credit.

A verified PayPal Business account is required to accept payments with PayPal. You can check your account status (and upgrade if necessary) over at PayPal's website.

Payments

• Payments placed through PayPal should hit your PayPal account balance right away. From there you can transfer funds to your linked bank account.

• U.S. sellers can accept Venmo for domestic orders. Payments placed through Venmo will hit your PayPal balance right away. Funds can then be transferred to your connected bank account and will hit your account in up to 3 business days,

• Transferring funds from PayPal to your bank should take about 1 business day. Learn more here.

• Qualifying buyers will see the Pay In 4 option when they get to PayPal-- 4 easy no-interest payments for them, and you're immediately paid in full. Sweeeeeet.
