Buy and print shipping labels from the Big Cartel admin (Sellers that ship from the U.S.or Canada)

Plan limits for shipping labels: Embedded label printing is a paid feature currently available to sellers that ship from the U.S. Diamond sellers get unlimited labels while Platinum sellers get access to 10 labels per month (that number resets each month and unused labels do not roll over). Gold sellers can upgrade to get this feature.

What is embedded label printing?

We provide you with the best-discounted rates on shipping labels for your Big Cartel orders. This feature is available only for US or Canada-based sellers and supports USPS and FedEx, DHL Express, and Canada Post. This means you can:

  • Print labels straight from the order details page

  • Handle all your shipping needs without leaving Big Cartel

Getting started

Create a Shippo account and connect to Big Cartel

  1. After receiving an order, click Create shipping label in your order details page.

  2. Click Connect to Shippo.

  3. Follow the prompt on the screen to create a new account or log in if you already have one.

  4. Add credit card information for billing.

  5. Hit Allow access to let Big Cartel access your Shippo account.

  6. You will be redirected to the Order page with the ability to create a shipping label.

Create a shipping label

  1. If an international order, enter any necessary customs information.

  2. Manually enter package details, which includes type of package, total package weight and dimensions of the package.

    • Optionally, you can choose to save this as a custom package template that you can reuse for future orders.

    • You can also select a package template from an existing carrier to pre-populate package details.

  3. Select any additional options needed as a part of your shipment.

  4. Add the date of shipment.

  5. Once you’ve added the above information, carrier rates will populate. Now, select an option and price that works best for you.

  6. Purchase the label and confirm shipping details.

  7. Print the shipping label.

How to change the label size

You can customize the size of your shipping labels by following these steps:

  1. When creating a shipping label from the Order details page, click on the cogwheel icon on the top right corner of the page to open the settings menu.

  2. Select Labels and Packing Slips from the dropdown menu.

  3. Here, you’ll find the options to choose the label size that works best for your shipping needs.

Make sure to save your changes before proceeding to print your labels.

How to create a return label

You can include a return label with all of your orders to provide an easy way for customers to return items. You will not be charged for this label until it gets used (scanned by the carrier).

  1. When creating a shipping label from the Order details page, go to the Options section.

  2. Check the Create a return label option.

Refund a label

Our partner, Shippo, handles all of your refund requests. Refund requests are processed within 14 business days from the date the refund was requested, provided the label has not been used.

If you have a label that you purchased and do not intend to use, you can submit a refund request to them by following these steps:

  1. From your Big Cartel orders, go to the order with the label you’d like to refund.

  2. Click Manage shipping label.

  3. Click More actions and select Submit refund request.

  4. Complete the order form.

USPS labels must be used within 30 days of purchase. Labels not used within 30 days are invalid and should be discarded.

Shippo is a shipping platform that provides access to discounted shipping rates and a wide range of carriers.

Currently, we support USPS and FedEx for US-based sellers.

Simply log in to your existing Shippo account when prompted during the connection process.

If you need a carrier that is not currently supported, please contact Shippo and request that they add that carrier.
